A day with lot expectations

Last saturday I along with Hiran went to my college, GEC Palakkad ( Which people understand by GEC Sreekrishnapuram
in Kerala). It was by 10 AM, Hiran reached my home. Some final touchings were given to our slides. Hiran refusing to
have breakfast in my home we started our journey to the college. For the first time I was taking a “Giant man” in my
scooter. Any how the journey along with him was so nice to me. Because it was for the first time in my life I was doing
2 things simultaneously –
1) Driving(which is ofcourse)
2) Talking GNU all the way!!!
And when we were near to the college suddenly lot of vehicles blocked the road!!!

Any how after all the vehicles went we SAFELY landed in the college. Students were there to arrange the mike and
projector. The number of students for the morning session were easy for us to manage.

Vipin Vasu who was in charge of the event then called me to give an introduction about the event.

I think I gave the introductory speech in a decent manner. After that it was Hiran’s chance to give students a brief
idea about philosophy.

We had already made a plan to make students ask questions. And now Hiran wants them to ask questions.

Hiran’s session went for some 2 hours and then we gave students a break for their lunch.

Its my turn now. For the first time I am giving a talk in front of students. Little nervous. But after I started I never
felt so. The number of students for my session were a little less in number compared to Hirans talk.

Students were little scared about the word SATANS, which I had mentioned in my slide. But that’s me!!! And now I
started my brief philosophy about GNU/Linux.

After this I just went on with the technical stuffs like make, tar, repository, package management.

Thus the session went for more than  3 hours. The interesting thing that I noticed was that in GEC Sreekrishnapuram,
girls are more active (Atleast those were there for the whole day). I was surprised when they told us that they need to
contribute to GNU/Linux. And finally I realized that the mission was partially successful. Now I need to contact them
again and again so that the fire that we gave to them never goes away from them.
But I didn’t got any response about my talk. Which made me feel very bad. But as Hiran told me that there wasn’t any
damage to our body makes us feel that the impact of our talk on students was good!!!

So I got the first reply from GEC. So the first motivated girl commented in my blog.
So I would like you to join Swathanthra Malayalam Computing. Well if you are interested. Because we still lack contribution from students in SMC. Well this is my suggestion. Different people will have different taste. So tell me about your taste
then I can help you a lot.

Thanks buddy. I am not going to leave the students as such. We need to work more in the college. Because I know the college very well. Sometimes students get scared what if teachers would not allow them to do their GNU work. So a support should be given to them. Similarly lot of colleges are there!!!
